Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Lead is primarily responsible for assisting the Supervisor in overseeing the assembly, shipping, receiving, and quality functions.  This person may perform all aspects of our jobs such as assembling parts and subassemblies, shipping products, receiving materials,  as well as give instruction to the teams assigned to the assembly lines. This role is responsible for acting as a good role model for the rest of the department and for keeping the department organized and clean.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Supervisor in directing and assisting in the work activities.
  • Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
  • Will coordinate orders with material handling and work with Production Control to assure orders are ready for assembly.
  • Positions parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements.
  • Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies.
  • Verifies specifications by measuring complete components.
  • Resolves assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications, notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources.
  • Provide input on schedule to ensure maximum efficiency and on time delivery is met.
  • Keep informed of any changes and new procedures throughout the day to stay on schedule
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate and plant safety standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Expectations

Education and/or Experience

  • High school degree, diploma or a GED equivalent qualification from is accredited institution.
  • Previous lead experience.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to efficiently work in a team and coordinate work with other departments.
  • Aptitude to take orders and execute the same efficiently.
  • Demonstrated detail orientation, self-motivation skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Previous experience with assembly.
