Overview

Reporting to the Quality Manager, this role is primarily responsible for conducting routine tests and inspections on rotationally molded plastic products, assisting with data collection and performing First Article and In Process Inspections. The Quality Assurance Technician participates in the development of standardized work instructions, conducts functional tests and develops inspection templates.

 

2nd Shift Hours (2pm - 10pm, Monday - Friday)

Responsibilities

  • Creates visual, dimensional or mechanical tests of materials, processes, assemblies or sub-assemblies.
  • Creates and submits PPAP documents.
  • Participates in gage studies and assists in the development of standardized work instructions.
  • Examines and investigates information contained in quality control documents, verifies completeness and accuracy of data and keeps file current.
  • Confers with document originators or quality control personnel to resolve questions, inconsistencies or missing data and compiles required changes to documents.
  • Counts or estimates quantities of materials, parts, or products received or shipped.
  • Measures utilizing equipment such as calipers to ensure that a part meets specifications.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift up to and including 50 lbs.
  • Frequent stooping, bending, squatting, crouching, or reaching above the shoulders is required.
  • Frequent use of hands and wrists on both large and small items: e.g., screws, bolts and nuts to service the molds.
  • Ability to focus and work at a continuous pace for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to efficiently work in a team and coordinate work with other departments.
  • Aptitude to take orders and execute the same efficiently.
  • Demonstrated detail orientation, self-motivation skills and ability to multi-task.

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent GED preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Blueprint reading capability, geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T), familiarity with ISO requirements and procedures, tool calibration experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications. (Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint)
  • Preferred experience running CMM’s.
  • Experience working within a highly technical environment.
  • Exposure to Quality Systems, PPAP Systems, FARO Measuring Arms and PC DMIS Software.
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC) experience is preferred.
  • Exposure to a Lean manufacturing environment preferred.

Equipment Operated:

  • Measurement devices, wrenches, screwdrivers and various other hand tools.
