Overview

Metalcraft of Mayville is seeking Robotic Welders to join our manufacturing team. Reporting to the Robotic Welding Manager, this position is responsible for operating robotic welding equipment to fabricate metal parts and assemblies according to established specifications and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has a basic understanding of welding processes, strong attention to detail, and an interest in working with robotic welding technology.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate robotic welding equipment to fabricate metal parts and assemblies.

  • Load and unload workpieces manually or with the use of hoists and other material-handling equipment.

  • Position and secure parts in fixtures or automatic feeding devices prior to welding.

  • Operate robotic welding equipment, including programming, touch-point adjustments, and operational corrections.

  • Set and adjust welding parameters such as wire feed speed, amperage, polarity, and shielding gas.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, job specifications, quality control plans, and production instructions.

  • Inspect and measure completed parts to ensure they meet required specifications and quality standards.

  • Use gauges and other measuring equipment to perform required inspections.

  • Perform basic MIG and TIG welding as needed.

  • Clamp, hold, tack weld, grind, or otherwise prepare components to achieve required configurations and positioning.

  • Remove weld spatter, slag, rough spots, and other imperfections using grinders and hand tools.

  • Perform welding in flat, vertical, or overhead positions as needed.

  • Maintain accurate production counts and properly label finished parts with customer, part number, quantity, and shop order information.

  • Identify basic welding, equipment, or quality issues and make appropriate adjustments or seek assistance when necessary.

  • Maintain company standards for quality, efficiency, and productivity.

  • Keep equipment and work areas clean, organized, and safe.

  • Follow all company and plant safety procedures.

  • Assist in other production areas or workstations as production needs require.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

  • Previous robotic welding, welding, or manufacturing experience preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of welding processes and welding principles.

  • Experience operating or programming robotic welding equipment is a plus.

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, welding symbols, and job specifications.

  • Basic understanding of welding parameters such as amperage, wire feed speed, polarity, and shielding gas.

  • Ability to use gauges and basic dimensional measuring equipment.

  • Basic shop math skills.

  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic production or equipment issues.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

  • Ability to follow instructions and established procedures.

  • Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work efficiently in a production environment.

  • Ability to adapt to changing production needs and work effectively as part of a team.
